Thanksgiving and THE TREE
This Thanksgiving Adam and I went up to Maple Valley to see his parents. I, the one who likes to book things solid, also squeezed in a trip to see Kari and Chris to talk wedding and brides' maid dresses, and a trip to Whidbey Island to see my dad, Auntie Linda, and cousin Etta, whose husband, Chris, and son, Evan, were also hiding out on the island.
As dad was in full-swing construction mode, Chris was telecommuting to Microsoft, and Linda was all about Evan, Etta and I stole away to the little town of Langley to go to a quilt shop and get a coffee. I got a book for a pattern that I had seen on my last trip to the island and still loved, and Etta may have got the quilting bug. We had a nice time talking about life and in-laws; she happens to be living with hers as they sell their condo and look for a new house.
And because it is after Thanksgiving, I was allowed to put my tree up! Here are some of the glamor shots of the tree.
I soon realized that the crystal ornaments are hard to focus on without a tripod (ah HUM, Adam), so I switched to the color highlight option for the rest.
Can you guess what my them for the tree is?
This red shoe was from Kari a few years ago. I love it!
You can't see it that well, but the glass snowflake in the above picture was my mom's. I have six of these and treasure them.
The other various snowflakes also have treasured givers behind them. The hand crocheted snowflakes are from my Grandma Johnson, who died when I was... in middle school? I keep thinking that I need to starch them again, but I am afraid to do it wrong and mess them up.
The angel holding the star is from my Auntie Linda. I believe she gave it to me when I graduated from high school, but it might have been college.
Hanging from the blue ribbons, that look black, are the Swarovski crystal snowflakes that Adam has given me for my birthday every year since we started dating. This year he gave me my ninth one. You can get a better look at this year's here.
If I can get Adam to find the plate that holds the camera onto the tripod (it's on the bottom of his camera and he's not sure where the said camera is) I may post more glamor shots of the tree because I love it!
