Bird Watching

Yesterday was a good day of hanging out with Adam.  After he got home from Cascade MotoClassic, his normal haunt on Saturday mornings for his motorcycle gossip, we went out to lunch for some of the best hamburgers in the west (killer fresh banana milkshake too), and then went to the wetlands to hunt for some owlets he had spotted a few weeks ago.  I imagine if they had been there they would look something like this.

Alas, the nest was empty so there were no baby owls to be seen.  We did come prepared for action though.  Adam had a spotting scope, tripod, digital SLR, and day pack strapped to himself.  I had my Cannon ELPH and some binoculars.  I got the easy part of the carrying duties.

Adam commented that he would rather spend the money a spotting scope would cost on another lens for his camera.  One, a lens would be lighter, and two, he could get better pictures of the birds.

This little bird was guarding her nest form me.  She has a blue cap on that shines when she does aerobatics.

I believe this is a crab apple blossom.  The smell was wonderful.  It reminded me of being a kid in the white house.  This tree was buzzing with bees and covered in magical looking moss.

Under all of the gear, Adam was wearing his new shirt.  It is the same pattern as his black one, but I used grey thread and brushed (by Adam) metal snaps.  You can't tell from the look on his face, but he really loves it.  In fact, he was wearing it again today when he left the house to meet up with some guys for a ride.  He said it was about 250 miles, so he's planning on avoiding all of National Quilting Day here with me.

  1. He looked the same in the picture of his last shirt, didn't he? He obviously just doesn't want to come across as too excited about his new shirts... someone might steal them if they think they're TOO good.
