Spreading the Love

I have always wanted to live forever, but not in the grow-old-crusty-and-wrinkly-like-Methuselah way.  I didn't even want to live forever in the I-drink-blood-and-can't-be-in-the-sunlight way.  Rather, I want to live forever in the I'm-a-character-in-a-book-bitches way.  Now I have the chance.

I follow a rather funny blog about the problems of modern life call A Beer for the Shower.  The two dudes that write the blog, Bryan and Brandon, have now released a book that they have written.  It's titled "The Missing Link" and here is the teaser they posed on their blog:

When the Internet collapses, society responds almost immediately…by having a meltdown.

While civilization is steadily destroying itself, IT cubicle-jockey and cyberspace junkie Brent Porter enlists the help of his grumpy office building security guard, Mickey, to find his missing computer gamer girlfriend, Molly. The trouble is, Molly’s fallen down her laundry basket and into a lewd and confusing world of nonsense, in a retelling of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland with a twist: the heroine is dumped into the deepest, darkest bowels of the Internet.

So while Brent and Mickey are searching for Molly in a city that’s gone to complete chaos, and Molly’s fighting off porn freaks, viruses, and scammers, who’s going to save humanity from the Internet (and itself)? Well, that would be the Downriver Boys, a group of homeless people who’ve never had to rely on technology to survive. These vigilant vagabonds, led by a war veteran and a half-brilliant, half-insane madwoman, will have to rely on everything they know about survival so that Brent, Mickey, and Molly will even have something to come back to.

I'm going to just ignore the fact that they ended that little blurb with the word "to," even though every bone in my English teacher body is aching to correct the sentence and banish ending a sentence with a preposition.  I know Grammar Girl says that it is okay, but I just can't handle it.

Chances are this book is really funny.  It's hella affordable at just $1.99 for the digital download on your Kindle.  Even if you don't have a Kindle (I get you.  I rock the Nook too) you can get the Kindle app fro free and then read "The Missing Link" on your 'puter.

I'd download it and offer you a more interesting personal opinion, but "the title is not available for customers from my location in Europe" where I reside.  Bryan? Brandon? Are you reading this? You should get that fixed so your "Europe" peeps can spend their money on  you.

I'm going to have to wait until I get back to the USA to get the book, but you lucky people can download it now.
So, you should.

Download it now.
